Country Time Casserole
January 19, 2008
This recipe is some thing my grandmother use to make for us on Christmas morning. She would cook the sausages the night before so that it did not take as long in the morning. We all looked forward to her sausage casserole.
1-1/2 pounds ground sausage meat
6 thin slices of onion
2 cups cottage cheese
1/2 tsp. oregano
1 (7-1/2 oz.) can tomato sauce
sugar
Form the sausage in to 6 patties. Brown throughly on both sides. Put in casserole dish. Place a slice of onion on each sausage patty. Mix cottage cheese with oregano and place some on each patty. Top each one with tomato sauce. Sprinkle each one with a couple pinches of sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.
